LA LA Land and such
Well, LA was a big, fabulous deal. I had 3 songwriting appointments with wonderfully accomplished people, two of whom I had never met. The Feel Good Film Fest was a sold-out success! Photos of me on the red carpet got published by a bunch of news wires, which apparently is no small feat. I didn’t even realize who was taking my picture, but by the end of the line (thanks to one photographer who motioned for me to put my hand on my hip and really pose), I had had a crash course in what to do (sort of)! i saw some awesome films, especially the shorts.
I also got to meet with a wonderful director whom I admire, who talked of how much he could have used me as a music supervisor on his last film. There’s always next time 🙂
This week, my little Jazz Happy Hour at The Elephant Room is actually my maiden voyage on that stage, if you can believe it. The place is legendary. It was recently named one of the top 10 jazz venues in the country by Wynton Marsalis in USA today.
We are also still using Wednesday nights to try out new original material in a very low-key setting – My “local” – Nomad Bar.
We have 4 confirmed Jazz gigs in Italy and more to come. We hope to play 10 straight nights.
This event in Bastrop on Saturday – Tanalee has recently opened a lovely tea room in downtown Bastrop. She’s having an all-day event with music from noon – ???. This is also the grand opening of a boutique called Electra Fried Chicks and a salon called Salon Vibe. Appetizers, tea, cake, wine, live music, drawings for discounts on salon treatments and for a high tea. I’m told her scones are the real British deal.
Thanks so much for your support!
